To the Beach: Oscar Island - The Island Hopping Experience

After our perfect adventure at Mt. Gulugod Baboy, we hopped to an island as our side trip, the Oscar Island. This was my first Mountain to Beach experience that's why I encouraged my fellow hikers to have a side trip in this island.

From the Mt. Gulugod Baboy jump-off, we rode a boat heading to the island. The last time I rode on a boat is when I was a little kid, that's why I'm a bit excited on our island hopping. Along the way, the water was so clear as we can see the corals below at low tide.

I told the boatmen if we can make a stop at Sumbrero Island to take pictures before heading to Oscar Island. They granted our request and took a long cut for us to see Sumbrero Island much closer.

Hello, Sumbrero Island

It took about 15 to 30 minutes before we arrived at Oscar Island. We immediately cooked for our lunch before we swim. Some of us changed clothes and get ready to swim. Right after the lunch, we ran to the beach and swim.  There are small sea urchins under so we had to take care of our steps. The driver lend us a goggles so we can see clearly some underwater creatures. I saw fishes below that looks like Finding Nemo but different in color, but according to Butch Carpio, he saw the same color as Finding Nemo.

We had a short tutorial on how to float in the water. The MT Buddies (Mikko, Aldrin and Edu) demonstrated some techniques that we followed. We also took some photos as usual, and shoot videos using the Go Pro. You might like to watch the video created by Mikko Dapula, where you can watch our Mountain To Beach adventure. 

This experience is superb. I will surely try this again.
