This was a spontaneous dayhike. Me and my friend/officemate Kat Cayetano with her friends should be having a tree planting activity with Haribon Foundation on September 24th, but it was cancelled. Since we were already hype for an outdoor activity, we decided to set a quick dayhike instead, and we chose Mt. Binacayan.
We also invited some of our officemates in Deltek and I'm glad that a lot of them are interested. Since Mt. Binacayan has a great chance of having Sea of Clouds early in the morning, I planned to start the trek as early as possible. All participants agreed and another Sea of Clouds chasing begins.
We rented a van for this trip. It's a good option since we're going to travel very early. We left Makati to Montalban at around 4:00AM. Our target was to reach the jump-off at exactly 5:00AM as it is the earliest time allowed to start trekking in Montalban mountains.
We reached the jump-off at around 5:00AM. I immediately looked for Kuya Ronnie, my favorite guide from Brgy. Wawa. He was also our guide on my first climb in Montalban last March 2015. Prior to this climb, I contacted DENR office of Brgy. Wawa days before to give a heads-up that we'll be getting Kuya Ronnie as our guide. As expected, Kuya Ronnie was already there waiting for us that's why we easily get started.
We did a half an hour night trek before dawn. The trail is very easy and established unlike the another trail of Binacayan which starts on the another side of the mountain. The weather is very cool and the whole team were enjoying it. Halfway through, we've seen a small cloud passing besides Binacayan which indicates that there's a Sea of Clouds on the peak. It urges me to climb more faster and after a few minutes, I was speechless.
I immediately looked for the others to tell them to hurry up because they might missed the view. It lasts for about 30 minutes and we stayed at Peak 1 for an hour for picture taking and all. As some of us were exhausted, I asked them if they still want to push through the summit. But they still want it so we continue and do the traverse. The traverse is much easier than the old one.
Please take extra careful on the edges of the mountain. Don't do too much "buwis-buhay" pose, it might put you in danger. Try to sit just like what we did in the photo.

We took the descent for almost 2 hours. We wanted to visit the nearby falls but the weather was getting bad so we decided not to go. Number of shower rooms in Brgy. Wawa had increased, and it's good to accommodate vast number of hikers every weekend.
